Eternity Wedding Band Variations
Eternity bands traditionally feature either one, two, or three rows of diamonds:
- One-row eternity bands represent an eternity of everlasting, never-ending love
- Two-row eternity bands represent two lives coming together as one, connected by love
- Three-row eternity bands represent the past, present, and future with one’s true love
Eternity bands with a single row of diamonds are the most popular, like R9706BW-6.5. This is the most affordable Valina eternity band, featuring 35 prong-set round diamonds, for a total diamond weight of ½ carat. Like all Valina rings, this band is available in 14K white, yellow, and rose gold, as well as platinum (platinum requires special pricing, so it is not shown on our website). But due to the delicate nature of eternity ring settings, you will not typically see eternity bands featuring mixed metal detailing. To keep diamonds in place for a full 360-degrees, the gold needs to be completely solid. Fusing different gold colors together doesn’t provide as secure of a base as when a band is molded from a single type of metal.
An eternity ring’s setting also makes it very difficult to resize – any stretching or cutting could diminish the metal’s hold on each individual stone and ruin its structural integrity. That being said, eternity bands are not impossible to resize. If you have an eternity band that no longer fits, seek out goldsmiths who are specifically trained in resizing eternity bands. Google reviews are often very good indicators for the quality of service a goldsmith will provide. Trust us, taking the time to research resizing experts, paying a little extra money, or even shipping your ring to another state is 100% worth it if you want to maintain your eternity ring’s quality.
Wedding Ring and Setting Alternatives
Trendsetters and minimalistic modern brides have started choosing eternity bands over traditional wedding bands and engagement rings. Trendsetters love how much sparkle you get in such a small package – eternity wedding bands are a sleek yet flashy look that is sure to turn heads and inspire followers. While modern minimalists like how simple and clean eternity bands look – by definition, eternity bands are a solid row of diamonds with no excess detailing or center stones. Also, unlike traditional wedding bands, if your eternity band spins around, you cannot even tell, because the entire band is encased in diamonds, whereas most wedding bands only have diamonds on the upper half of the shank. Therefore, it is no surprise that minimalist fashion icons like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn chose channel-set platinum eternity bands featuring baguette diamonds over traditional wedding bands. These bands were not only great representations of these iconic women’s personal identities and senses of style, but they were also gorgeous symbols of their love.
Valina has a more modern channel-set eternity band, R9700BW-6.5, featuring 31 round diamonds, for a total diamond weight of ¾ carat. Channel-settings are perfect for eternity bands because the channel makes the jewelry look even sleeker, with solid and straight polished gold edges. These edges also protect the diamonds from scratching, catching on things, and falling out. Yet, many people still prefer prong-set eternity rings because you can see the diamonds’ sides as well as their tops. Prongs open up more visible surface area on each diamond, allowing them to capture more light and sparkle brighter than their encased channel-set alternatives. Besides channel and prong settings, eternity bands also often come in bezel-set designs, where beautiful polished gold frames wrap around each individual diamond, fusing with the other bezels. Bezel-set eternity bands have the most playful look of traditional eternity bands because of their rounded bumpy edges.
Eternity Band Stones
Both Marilyn and Audrey had an eternity band featuring baguette diamonds, which was a very popular stone cut back in the mid-1900s. Now, in the early 2000s, round and princess-cut eternity bands are all the rage. Valina only sells eternity bands with round diamonds because they are the most popular. But with our custom orders team, we can make eternity bands with almost any shaped diamond. For example, marquise diamond eternity bands are becoming popular due to their fairytale aesthetic. The main downside with making eternity bands with less traditional stone shapes is that you might lose the eternity band’s signature straight edges.
Besides featuring different diamond shapes, eternity bands often showcase gemstones as well. Sapphire and ruby are the most popular gemstone choice, like with our band, R9704BW-6.5. This ¾ TDW prong-set eternity band features 13 diamonds and 12 sapphires. The balance between these alternating clear diamonds and romantic blue sapphires is truly breathtaking.
Sapphires and rubies are some of the hardest colored gemstones, with a rating of 9/10 on the MOHS scale. Durable gemstones are essential for eternity bands since they showcase stones around a finger’s entire circumference. Due to the 360-degree design, eternity bands constantly crash and scratch against surfaces beneath your hand. And since eternity rings have no top or bottom, every side of the ring will experience the same wear and tear. For these reasons, you only want gemstones that can handle that level of abuse, especially if you plan on wearing it every day. Regularly worn eternity bands should only have gems with a hardness rating of 9 or higher, but if you are purchasing an eternity band for fashion purposes, you can likely get away with stones rating 7 or higher. Stackable Eternity Bands

Fashionistas love wearing eternity bands with bridal sets and other stackable rings. Due to the eternity band’s straight structure, they pair best with rings that also have straight bands, like classic solitaire, halo, and three-stone diamond engagement rings. Traditionally, a bridal set with an eternity ring features the wedding band closest to the hand, followed by the engagement ring, and then the eternity band. But the rings are yours, so have fun with how you layer them.

Additionally, if you want the eternity band to stand out in a fashion stackable band look, pair them with thinner stackable bands that accent, but do not distract from the eternity’s spectacular sparkle. For a more prominent contrast in your stackable band look, get a two-row eternity band, like R9707BW-6.5. This stunning eternity band is made up of 55 diamonds, for a total diamond weight of 2.19 carats. Two-row eternity bands like this would pair beautifully in a multicolored-gold stackable look, like with CDD2995-1R and CDD2970-1Y. The rounded edges of the yellow gold beaded ring and twisted milgrain rose gold ring perfectly accent the round diamonds featured in the eternity band. Or for a colorful look, pair your eternity band with CCR2556-W, CCS2536-W, and CDD2970-W. Even though the sapphires and rubies are square-shaped and step-cut, the bands’ milgrain accents create a perfect balance within this vibrant stack.
Another benefit of stacking rings with multi-row eternity bands is that the eternity bands already look like stacked rings! So, with a two-row eternity band, it innately looks like you are wearing two bands, and with a three-row eternity band like R9703BW-6.5, it looks like you are wearing three separate diamond bands. This wonderful statement three-row eternity ring is made up of 76 diamonds, weighing nearly 5 carats, at 4.93 TDW. You can pair a band like this with other rings, but it truly doesn’t need any other accents to dazzle the people around you. By gifting someone a three-row eternity band, you are reminding them that you love them just as much today as you did when you met, and that love will continue into your future. The only thing that needs to come with this eternity band is a simple but powerful three-word statement: “I Love You.”
Eternity Band Pricing
It is important to note that eternity band pricing varies depending on the ring size. All eternity rings on Valina.com are based on our 6.5 stock size. Therefore, if you have a smaller or larger sized finger, the final price will likely be different than the one displayed on the product page. Prices differ because to size up or down, gemstones and gold must be removed or added. Due to this cost differential, along with the difficulty resizing that we discussed earlier, we cannot state how essential it is to get your finger professionally sized before ordering an eternity band. Without a doubt, the eternity band will be worth every penny because whenever you look down at your hand, you will not only feel as regal and fabulous as Marilyn Monroe, but you will also feel the love of your special person reflect back at you in every diamond’s sparkle.
